The dog kennels
THE DOG KENNELS were rustic ones for the many dogs at Invergowrie, a simple hollow log with tin over one end to stop the wind.
One dog with a great story is ‘Nip’. Taken on the road with 4000 sheep in the drought of 1966 to Queensland, an excellent worker for Avon Moffatt and Ken Moffatt’s right hand for many years was unfortunately lost.
Six weeks later ‘Nip’ had arrived back at Invergowrie in poor health and very worn footpads. The journey of 300 miles or so perhaps not so remarkable in itself but it is made so by the fact that Nip travelled to Queensland by train with the sheep and therefore had no knowledge of the route to follow, to find home!
