The woolshed and yards
THE WOOLSHED AND YARDS are located north northwest of the property. The woolshed shearing board ran 8 stands. The Wolsley overhead gear for the machinery was installed around 1901. The 6 HP Clayton and Shuttleworth steam engine later drove the shearing gear and also the breaking down saw bench for cutting and milling local timber, mainly white stringy bark.
THE WEATHER or WETHER* SHED is situated some 400m south southwest from the homestead on a rocky basalt ridge. It’s a large building with four bays running lengthways. Each bay could accommodate about 350 woolly sheep and 450 shorn ones. It was mainly used to protect shorn sheep from inclement weather. Later, after WWII the shed was used for Lucerne hay bales and other stock feed.
