The saddle room
THE SADDLE ROOM is entered from the southwestern end of the garage complex and was opposite the, now demolished, stables and across from the present granary and museum; it contained mountings for stock saddles, children’s saddles and harnesses for the draft and stock horses.
“Everyone has a favourite horse. ‘Trooper’ was given to me by a good friend and he was undoubtedly the best ‘friend’ I ever had. I rode him many hundreds, even perhaps thousands of miles from 1957 to 1967. I could shoot from the saddle and he would stay reasonably still, except when I used the .303. He didn’t like that going off in his ear! I could and did carry many wormy or sick sheep on him. If I left him he would stay without being tied up until I returned. He was a handsome brown gelding, the best horse I ever had!” Ken Moffatt
